Corn Silage

Silage is a preserved pasture fodder or high moisture content fodder made from green crops. Making silage is very important for farmers as silage can be fed to animals (dairy, sheep, goat other livestock) during times when pasture isn’t good or natural fodder is not available. Made up of grass, corn, maize, and others, silages are made by chopping the crops into small pieces and then storing them.

The common methods used to store silages are silos, bunkers, silage bags and silage bales. Silos and bunkers are used when there are large quantities present, Silage bags and bales are used when there are only small quantities to be stored and can be transported to the nearby market or farms in a short time.

The silage is then fermented to provide feed for livestock. The fermentation process of silage is done in multiple phases and takes around 3 weeks to be completed. The process of fermentation is done to improve dry matter intake and create a more digestible feed.

Advantages of feeding Corn silage:

  6. Availability throughout the year.
  7. Self life of 18 months by packing in UV protected wrapping film.
  8. 100 % Pure and Safe.
